Summary

A story of mix-ups, mess-ups and making the most of second chances, this is the new novel from international sensation Jojo Moyes, author of Me Before You and The Giver of Stars

Who are you when you are forced to walk in someone else's shoes?

Meet Sam 。 。 。
She's not got much, but she's grateful for what she has: a job she's just about clinging on to and a family who depend on her for everything。 She knows she's one bad day away from losing it all - and just hopes today isn't it 。 。 。

Meet Nisha 。 。 。
She's got everything she always dreamed of - and more: a phenomenally rich husband; an international lifestyle; and 。 。 。 she's just been locked out of all of it after her husband initiates divorce proceedings 。 。 。

Sam and Nisha should never have crossed paths。 But after a bag mix-up at the gym, their lives become intertwined - even as they spiral out of control。

Each blames the other as they feel increasingly invisible, forgotten, lost - and desperately alone。

But they're not。

No woman is an island。 Look around。 Family。 Friends。 Strangers。
Even the woman you believe just ruined your life might turn out to be your best friend。
Because together you can do anything - like take back what is yours 。 。 。

Somewhat predictable but a fun read (I listened to audio)。 Wraps up nicely at the end。

Another Great Read from Jojo Moyes!Grabbed me from the first page。 I felt the angst viscerally for both main characters, to the point that it was almost painful to keep reading。 But I HAD to keep reading to find out what happened。 Just a fun (well, not always fun) read! I’m a big Jojo Moyes fan and this one did not disappoint。

Karen

Excellent plot twists and character development!

I liked it, but didn't love it。 Not like I loved "Me Before You" and "Giver of Stars。" The jacket teased how much the two women would need each other once they met, but that happened well past half-way into the book。 I did love the overall theme of the power of female friendships, and the importance of empowering women to be the author of their own story。 The storyline just didn't grab me the way I wanted it to, perhaps because Nisha's situation felt so implausible。 Do the "superrich" really do I liked it, but didn't love it。 Not like I loved "Me Before You" and "Giver of Stars。" The jacket teased how much the two women would need each other once they met, but that happened well past half-way into the book。 I did love the overall theme of the power of female friendships, and the importance of empowering women to be the author of their own story。 The storyline just didn't grab me the way I wanted it to, perhaps because Nisha's situation felt so implausible。 Do the "superrich" really do things like that? 。。。more

I wanted to love this book。 I have really enjoyed previous JoJo Moyes books。 But this one fell very short for me。 It’s waaay too long !! Listened on audiobook。 Every time I thought it was going to wrap up I would look and I would still have hours to go。 This book is NOT like Her previous book, Giver of Stars。 This has more F words than I could even count。 Unlikable characters, crassness, etc。 wouldn’t recommend

Janet

GREAT book。 Loved it!

Roz

Slow start but the 2nd half was really good

I absolutely loved this book! It had me from the first page and kept me entertained and wanting more the entire time。 It was packed with mystery the entire time and I loved the ending。 This book is about friendship, family and love。

Fantastic story。 I couldn’t put it down。 So different from the other Jojo Moyes books that I’ve read, but equally as interesting。 Another great book!

This is a good story but there are parts when I did not want to finish the book。 About 40% into the book, the story seems to stall。 The characters are already developed but the story seems stuck。 If you persist, you will be rewarded with a great ending。 For every one who did not finish, I would try this book again。

DNF。 I got sixty pages in… and struggled to get there。 Everything so far was just sad。 This is the first Jojo Moyes book I didn’t finish and didn’t love。 😳

Good beach read

If you like JoJo Moyes you will like this!

I might get some hate for saying this, but I just couldn’t for the life of me get into this book。 It’s too long and I wish the author would just be a little more straightforward。 I fell asleep twice and just couldn’t focus, this book did not catch my attention like I thought it would。 Maybe in the future I’ll give it another shot。

I was so hopeful for this one, but honestly, it felt too long, and I grew bored in the middle。 The premise also grew a bit old… The entire book is based on a pair of shoes and the relationships that form around them。

Jennifer Latin

Fun Read! Great characters with some twist。

Meghan Taylor

It was a slow start to get into it, but by the middle I didn’t want to put it down。

Mary Claire Palczynski

Honestly, Jo Jo could write and instruction manual and I’d read it and still love it。 This book is no different! It did take a bit to ramp up but I tend to think all of her books are a slow start。 Would recommend!

Normally, I would round a review of 4。5 up to a 5。o, but - when a writer gets as close to a true 5-star review as this one does in Someone Else's Shoes, I wish I could just give it a 4。75-star review, which is closer to how I feel about it。Jojo Moyes came so close to perfection in this example of a genre that I love, that I had to struggle like crazy not to sit down and read it all in one sitting - which, at 435 pages, would have kept me glued to my comfy reading chair for a matter of days - PLU Normally, I would round a review of 4。5 up to a 5。o, but - when a writer gets as close to a true 5-star review as this one does in Someone Else's Shoes, I wish I could just give it a 4。75-star review, which is closer to how I feel about it。Jojo Moyes came so close to perfection in this example of a genre that I love, that I had to struggle like crazy not to sit down and read it all in one sitting - which, at 435 pages, would have kept me glued to my comfy reading chair for a matter of days - PLUS denying me days of looking forward to reading more of it for several "next days。"Novels like this one are chocolate to readers like me。What was unique about this one, was its length and (unexpectedly) its complexity。 If you devour comic women's novels like this, as I do, I'd strongly encourage you not to miss this one。 Only be prepared to be frustrated by how close it comes to being perfect -And then find another reader, like me, to talk with you why it didn't - QUITE - achieve that perfection that it made us long for。 。。。more

A feel good, easy page turner。 Something to take your mind off things and enjoy on the weekend。 Neither more nor less than this。

3。5 - 4? Not sure, yet。 Someone else’s shoes is the story of Sam and Nisha and a pair of red high-heel shoes。 Sam is going through a rough patch both at home and at work while Nisha has suddenly discovered that her perfect life is coming to an end。 A pair of red high-heel shoes will join these two women resulting in a story of friendship and second opportunities。 Funny, sweet and entertaining。

Good to see “old school” JoJo Moyes back, with a very fun, simple read。 The narrator for this audible was excellent, so I think that added to my enjoyment。 I only gave it 4 stars because it lacked the emotional punch and relative depth of Me Before You and some of her other books。 It was nice to read a book about the friendships between the women as opposed to romance。 Touched on a lot of themes that many women of different ages will appreciate!

Anamaria

I found Nisha so irritating, and the circumstances she finds herself in at the beginning of the book so unbelievable, that she almost overwhelmed Sam's much more relatable story。 Everything picks up once the two meet! I listened to this book while I drove to Florida。 It was delightful, so entertaining。 The story was interesting,I loved the characters and the ending was so satisfying。 The perfect book to pass the time on the long drive。 Jojo Moyes never disappoints

Far fetched but a fun read with characters you end up rooting for。
